Motion - The best hiking (related) TV show

Updated Jan 2012

For those in the Bay Area there is a great local outdoor/hiking show called Motion on the digital channel LiveWell - Channel 7.2, and on Comcast channel 715.

For those outside of the Bay Area, now you can also see show full episodes online at the LiveWellHD site.

The show has amazing video of great views, waterfalls and vistas from a number of Western US locations - including the Olympic Peninsula, Big Island of Hawaii and Kenai Fjords Glacier.

Unlike most outdoor shows on TV, Motion does a really great job of showing the hiking route as well as providing some tips on accessing the trail. While other shows can gloss over the details the host, Greg Aiello does a nice job of providing some really useful hiking information.

This is the best hiking show on TV in my book.

A scene from Yosemite Falls - Over the Edge

The show also focuses on camping, kayaking, geocaching and mountain biking. Its a very well done outdoors tv show - Kudos to Greg and his team for keeping it going!

Totally agree, Motion is a fantastic show. It's become part of my morning ritual.

I just wish I lived in Cali, so I could take advantage of all the great locations.

Do you know if the show uses original music for the montage scenes? That is what I was googling when I found your site.

I always tune in to see where Greg is going next as I have hiked and visited many of the spots. He does a fabulous and informative show on each and every area.
However, I was amazed to see him actually go down to the beach at Julia Pfeiffer State Park on the Big sur peninsula. This beach was bequeathed to Julia, and it is stated emphatically, that it is to remain as pure as possible from humans and to be totally viewed from only the lookouts, and upon visiting the scenic points I can understand why, it is truly a spiritual place. So obviously Greg didn't read the state park rules there and now he has basically made it ok for others to venture down there and no longer will it be serene.
I do hope he does something to amend this thought as there are plenty of nutters around who will go thru the 6 foot fence!!! and along that dangerous gorge to that secluded beach.
I am sure he will make this right as he seems to really care about the environment. I sincerely Hope so.
Thanks D. Thomas
